What happens to the ĘGIS Microbe Shield technology after a treated garment is thrown away or discarded?
A shirt treated with this technology placed in a landfill will break down to basic components in about five years. The ĘGIS molecule will break down into the common carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and silicon dioxide (sand or quartz) from which it was derived.
In a
highly simplified explanation, the raw material components used to produce the
ĘGIS Microbe Shield antimicrobial are much like a
cake recipe:
- Silicon derived from quartz
- Organic Alcohol
- Hydrocarbons (oil, like those used in synthetic fabrics)
- Nitrogen (most abundant atmospheric gas)
- Add heat, stir and you have the antimicrobial miracle which has become the ĘGIS Microbe Shield.
The creation process is completed when the silane component is combined with the organic component to form our unique organosilane molecule. The rest is history!
